First impressions of Singapore?
Been here a week, its quite hot and humid but its nice to be with him again. We spend most of our time doing nothing, which is one of our favorite past times, which I don't mind most of the time. Its been a little weird adjusting from doing absolutely everything to almost nothing so I guess thats why I get restless here. Its something I'm still getting used to. My mind runs a mile a minute back home, trying to figure this or that and running errands around, but here its too hot to think or theres nothing else to so. Its my vacation anyway so I just need to get into the low pase mode.
Aaron is fine for the most part, hes just bitchy cause he wants to. Hes just sian and sian bitchy, but I'll deal with it. I find myself saying "what?" alot even though I perfectly understand them, its just more of a confirmation of what I assumed people said. Singlish isn't hard to understand but its hard to speak back. I don't even bother trying to speak back, its like I find myself speaking hella proper English in response. Oh well, I'll deal with it.
I'm planning on meeting some old Shanghai schoolmates here, but we're all not in a rush since they have work. I actually have the opportunity to meet a lot of people, but chose to just leave it as a "btw i'm in town" kinda thing since its such a hassle going out for whatever. Meh, whatever.
The weather is totally different, I can't exactly say I've adjusted to the weather, but I'm dealing with it. The food is great, I know I just had a little taste of whats out there, but I'm for the most part willing to try anything. I try to stay away from fishy and shrimpy dishes, but its unavoidable here. My shrimp allergies kicked in a couple times, but I just deal with it. Hives and short of breath can be remedied with sleep I guess.
Oh the Chan family is totally nice, I like them alot. I sometimes make fun to Aaron that they're a bit too buttercup midwestern pixie dust humble apple pie kind of wholesome. But he knows what I mean, I'm not used to such functional nuclear families. Its like "WHAT? No bitching? whoa, thats like finding a unicorn."
Eventhough I complain quite a bit about the weather, I seriously think the weather has a lot to do with how my mood is affected. In fact, it probably has a lot to do with shaping people's day and thier mood.
Aaron for the most part is fine, he's still trying to shoot for his even 16 hours of sleep a day. I have yet to see his school exhibition, but I don't mind if he doesn't show me. Its nice to be back together doing nothing, when you're away from someone for so long you really learn to treasure the little mundane things everyone does. Doing nothing, hearing him complain and bitch, and just sweating my ass off is totally fine since its a rare event as it is. Take the good of what you have, right?
